I have heard about Chau Chow City for quite some time from other foodies. I had the pleasure to attend a wedding there recently. The food was fabulous it was actually an 11 course meal so we were able to sample a wide range of their menu. We were impressed to say the least. This should receive a high compliments from any food lover.
loved this restaurant. it was great. it was the best chinese food ever.
loved this place. after going to church at park street, we'd walk to chau chow city for delicious dim sum! great place! big lines, but worth the wait!
John tO,
You have no clue what you're talking about. I have been there with Japanese, Korean, Thai and Cambodian friends and we all love it.
You can't get near the place on the weekends for dim sum and apparently you didn't even try to order the crab or prawn.
Local Chinese are there constantly and I'm sure there's no traffic in Houston at all.
Not the best place to go and eat... But it's one of your only options after you leave the clubs... Peach Farm on tyler street is much better and they are open just as late.
John tO- I live in Houston and Boston (1 block from Chau Chow City)...split time. I am not sure where you are coming from. The restaurant is always full of local Chinatown residents. I am still looking for some good Chinese food in Houston...let me know if you have any suggestions....I am 0 for 7! As for the ttraffic and the people comments....you just lost any credibility to rate a restaurant in that city. You could at least be smart enough to hide your disdain.
I'd like to express my thanks to the people who have reviewed this resteraunt. I can't speak for most people, but I rely on the internet to give precise & accurate reviews on eateries.
Without the honesty of the other reviewers, I probably would've gone there based on the internet.
Most times going to Boston for me is a project. I thank you for saving me an hour drive, never mind the gas, & letting me keep my money for a more dependable place to dine.
me and my friends have been going there for years, its certainly the spot to go(especially after the clubs!) the food is great(we always get the mayonaisse shrimp...awesome!)and dont forget about the "flaming lamborgini" drinks...ask about them..there a must!!
It really isn't that great, I don't understand how this restaurant got onto this list at all. It isn't an authentic Chinese restaurant. Unfortunately, I have tasted better food from a To-Go Chinese Restaurant. The Dim Sum part of the restaurant during lunch isn't as good as the actual dining portion of the restaurant.
Haven't eaten there for ages, but to find a decent Chinese Restaurant, one should check with the locals.

I disagree. Peach Farm smells horrible, always hot and humid, and God the smokers!!
