Industrial-grade, overpriced, sad Italian living on it's once-deserved populist rep with locals. Colorful waitresses and great kitschy decor can't disguise bad food and value (though pizza is passable). Avoid.
All I can say is that it was overpriced & mediocre. We just went there for a business dinner. If I am going to pay $15 for a pasta dish, it better be darn good. The place puts up a nice 4-Star atmosphere, but the food was a laughable quality more suitable for Applebee's. Thier idea of Italian bread was something resembling "Wonder Bread" with seasame seeds on it, and they didn't give Oilve Oil for it (only butter). The dishes were very uninspired like "fried ravioli" (what no Briaciole???). The espresso tasted like used motor oil. The service was TERRIBLE, we often waited 15-20 minutes for the waitress to show her face again; so we gave up on ordering dessert. I have pretty bad indigestion as we speak...
This is an always crowded ,expect a wait,, local landmark kind of place. I don't get it..,one of the most over rated places to eat in Waltham.Garlic powder and garlic salt take the place of ALL herbs, spices and flavorings in the offerings that I have sampled..Pizza actually is good for the area.menu is very standard:A:Chix,broccolli,ziti-oily,garlic powder,no wine,no real flavor B Usual red sauce entrees(ziti w/ or w/o meatball etc C:Veal and chx cutlet 'parmesean'-dry ,veal is patty etc.. I have had friends say the seafood is excellent but I haven't tried.MAJOR PLUS: The Chateau does tremendous amounts to support the community from outright food donations to all school activities, fund raisers, all town events, quietly donating food to all the local food pantries, shelters, meal spots etc. They donate food, money, gift certificates etc to all the youth organizations(Salvation army, boys andgirls club etc).I am a repeat customer for that reason as it is extremely important and they do a very impressive job.
You have got to be kidding me...: This place is great if you are over 60. The decor is tachy, the food is mediocore at best. The waitstaff does not smile and complains about the fact that they have "been at work since 9:30" which means they are overworked. I know the place has a reputation and that is why people like it, but come on.. Do not decive people into thinking that this is a "great" place to eat. It is good, but not even close to great.
Cannot wait another dining experience there...: For as long as I remember this has been a top notch restaurant.. I highly recommend this for anyone visiting Waltham...
Really great food and lots of it!!!: If your hungry this is the place to go.They really give lots of food for a great price,Ive gone and came full from them and i love to eat good food.
A Waltham Landmark: Food is excellent, seating and serving are usually prompt, but slow down as expected at peak times. Adequate free parking is provided in three adjacent lots. Decor is dated and a bit worn in places, but this is a place you go for good food at a reasonable price, not the ambiance. It is hard to go wrong with the Italian dinners and fried seafood, but I was underwhelemed by their signature Toasted Ravioli- but other people rave about it.
Favorite place in Waltham: Best pizza in Waltham
