I read the other reviews and something must have gone terribly wrong the day I went there. We live in Goldsboro and normally drive all the way to Durham to eat Indian at Sitar. I thought we would tyr something a little closer this time and was sorely disappointed. The food looked like it had been on the buffet for the entire day. It was dried to the sides of the pans. The place was not well kept, looked dirty and the food, like I said, was on the buffet way to long and turned my stomach. I really don't know why I even stayed. My first instint was to turn around and walk out and I really should have.
This might be ok if you eat there. the food was ok, but not great...However, I made the mistake of getting carry-out which they charged me 12 dollars a pound for the buffet. They charged me for the food and rice which came to 5 pounds. 65 dollars with tax for not a lot of food...a complete rip-off...DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE FOR TAKE OUT UNLESS YOU WANT TO SPEND WAY TOO MUCH MONEY!!!
An indian guy i see in the gym sometimes recommended this place to me. I like to try all exotic foods so this was a good opportunity to try something new. The location and decor is really nothing to write home about. Probably only 2 stars at most, but the food makes up for this! Buffet lunch during the week for only $6.99 (cash price) or $13 on Saturdays is really pretty good, and I have a fine pallet. All foods are very tasty and nicely spiced, but not too hot. The chef often comes out of the kitchen to ask how you like this or that an sometimes brings stuff to your table to try! Have not have this happen to me since a visit to Greece back in the 70's. Try the goat stew and mango mousse on Saturdays. But the chef said he tries to vary what he serves a lot so who knows what you might find when you go there.
I went there last night for the first time and the lamb vindaloo was great! It's a great place to go for an unhurried dinner and I plan on going back again soon to try something else as the menu is huge!
I don't know what the last review was about. I thought the food was great. I'm Indian myself and usually have problems with indian restaurants because the food is oily and heavy. Chef Kiran Kumar's food is light and packs tremendous flavor. If you request it to be spicy he makes it spicy. I can see why he use to be a chef for the Prime Minister of India.
Definitely two-thumbs down!! We went to Suchi after my hearing so many good things about the food. Boy, were we in for a big surprise...this restaurant is a big disgrace to all Hyderabadis and Desis alike - the food is just terrible. I am not sure if Suchi has always been this way or if it just the new management. We made the mistake of ordering "Pav Bhaaji" and it was served as though it were a hamburger - the Bhaaji was stuffed betweeen two buns and tasted as bad as it looked. To be honest, it was the worst Pav Bhaaji ever. We complained to the manager but he did not bother taking it off our check. Also, the "Tadka Daal" had way too much garlic in it. I would stay away from their trademark "Bullet Naan" which the manager tried to push. Bottom line - the Cary/Morrisville area has so many great restaurants to choose from - it's definitely not worth throwing your money away at Suchi. I for one am never going back and will never recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We went for the Father's Day Brunch and it was exceptional. Everything on the buffet was excellent. Spicy but not too much, everything had a good bite to it but without the long burn. Management was friendly and came to our table to ask how everything was. As we were at the buffet, they were quick to answer questions to tell us ingredients in the entrees and explain the level of spicy in the various dishes. If you want excellent Indian food, I strongly encourage a visit here!!
UPDATE!!! BEST OF THE BEST FOR 2008
As of today KIRAN the chief, the one written up in Cary Magazine has purchased SUCHI and starting under new ownership tonight will be cooking again here in Cary. And as a bonus I have found out that VENU the original owner has come back to help out as well!
Be prepared to eat out at the best Indian restaurant the triangle will have to offer now. This is want I wished to see happen all along this is the dream team of Indian restaurant cooking coming back to Cary. With the two of them working side by side I am very confidant that SUCHI will go way above my wildest expectations and become the only place I go to eat Indian food again.
I strongly believe after talking to them today about the future of SUCHI that we are out to see the best of the best in Cary Magazine next year. I change my rating to 5 stars and will see you there again. Thank God this has happen I couldnât be happier about a restaurant changing hands for the better. If you have never eaten at SUCHI before you are in for a culinary experience now with these two master chiefs together in one place.
I have eaten here for the last four years. Recently changed management and now focus on northern indian cuisine. I have always enjoyed the dishes prepared and happy to see the new owners keep the tv's in the dining room. The lunch buffet is good.
It used to be the best, now the worst i can say , when I moved into the town, i tried all the restaurants in the area, now I see a lot of non Indians working there, How can u expect good Indian food from an Non Indian, I am not a racist , this is not a racial comment, I intend not to offend anyone, I am married , not to a Indian, I have other races working in my own restaurant, but Indian food is complicated to perfect, it is not just dumping spices and getting indian food
Its about timing and amount and alot of other aspects, to be short, the fame of this restaurant is going downhill
I gave them 4-5 chances, the buffet was horrible and the dinner ala carte is not good as it used to be
And I know my food, I am a cook (professional) myself for more than 16 yrs and our family owns dining places in India too, and I am not running a Indian restaurant here nor I am a competitor, this is my personal opinion and does not reflect any.
