We have eaten there a few times and enjoyed it very much. However, we have found the wait staff lacking. Our son ate there with his wife this spring and was very disappointed. They sent back one entry, ordered another and were charged for all. The waiter was unpleasant and when it was brought to the attention of the maitre'd, he was apologetic, but that was it. I don't think I will return.
If you are a vegetarian or do not like overly rich greasy food, don't go here. They had absolutely nothing vegetarian on the menu for entrees. I finally settled on a spinach salad, the spinach was not good quality and since I didn't get eggs or dressing or bacon, the poor quality was very apparent. The spinach was wet as if washed in what tasted like some sort of broth (duck broth?) It was totally inedible and our server did not even ask why the only thing I ordered was not touched.
The best in Lenox...French restaurant...Zinc...: For my husband and I, every summer sounds like Tanglewood and Bistro Zinc in Lenox. Since they opened in 1999, we go twice a week for the july and august and it is always better and better. And I thought that we go so many times, I should add comments on internet. Last time, my husband had French steak tartare, and even in NYC where there are many French restaurant, i could not get a such tartar with fresh meat like that. Then he had a steak with French Fries ( I tried to tell him it was too much meat in a meal but ...whatever.....) maybe it's because I am a vegeterian so i started with the pea and mint soup warm but so refreshing during the summer. And I took a wonderfull vetetable pot pie, fresh vegetables and mushrooms.....so good.
We shared the profiteroles which are just huge, one portion is far enough for two people. So that's it, I recommend to book in advance, because this place is just packed in summer, you can not go in without any reservation except if you are lucky but I always book one month in advance. Just go, and you'll see how gorgeous is the ambiance, staff is nice, friendly, very helpfull for the French wines. The place is a bit pricy, but I have never been disapointed so...it worth it!
