| About: | Since welcoming its first guests in 1773, The Red Lion Inn has earned a reputation for outstanding food and genuine country hospitality. Those traditions are continued today by Executive Chef Brian J. Alberg, whose kitchen features contemporary cuisine that is rooted in the region's history and harvests. Emphasizing the use of fresh, local ingredients and a huge proponent of buying locally and sustaining the region, Chef Alberg regularly updates the Inn's menus to reflect the bounty of each season. Guests choose from the elegant Main Dining Room, the cozy Widow Bingham's Tavern, the casual Lion's Den pub, or, in warmer months, the flower-filled Courtyard. The wine list offers 200+ selections, and has received the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for seven consecutive years; Sommelier Dan Thomas helps pair wines with meals. *The Inn accepts reservations for the Main Dining Room & Tavern only - please specify your preference in the Special Requests for Maitre D' section. |

My worst experience ever at the Lions Den.My son and his bride booked the Inn for their wedding, reception and breakfast over a three day week end.Family and friends booked rooms .
That Friday evening we were to meet the wedding party ,friends and family at the Lions Den for cocktails. My wife and I arrived first, sat at a table.A young server insisted that we had to move to a table for two from the table for four.I politely explained we were the parents of the groom waiting for them to join us with other wedding party memebers, therefore the need for the larger table. The explanation fell on deaf ears.We were forced to move despite the fact that there were other parties of two sitting at tables for four or more.Furthermore, later a party of two sat at the very same table we were forced to move from. They were not moved.
The bar manager came to our table and I pointed out the situation as discussed.I told her I was very unhappy with the shabby treatment we were receiving.I told her I would contact the Inns owner and voice my displeasure with the situation. She didn't do anything to resolve the problem. She could care less.
A few moments later the party joined us and we had to pile up in a corner at a table for two .Some Of the party had to stand at the bar across the room despite the fact there were larger tables occupied by only two persons. In the seperated party was a son we had not seen in three years as well as other longtime family friends. The situation was difficult and embarassing. The bar manager did nothing to help us to be seated together.Where was the promised service?
Now keep in mind the amount of money we spent for this overrated facility. In summary, the service and hospitality at the Lions Den were terrible, dampening the very ,festive, important event. Please keep this review in mind if you are planning an event in the future.Thank you
This was my first time visiting the Red Lion Inn. I was instantly amazed at how beautiful it was upon walking in. The attention to detail was really refreshing. They have a HUGE collection of antiques that were fun to look at. The multiple sitting areas make it cozy and romantic. The decor and layout make you feel right at home... almost like you are visiting an older relative's house.
While, we did not stay overnight, we did visit the bar on the ground floor and the Lion's Den for desert and to watch the live jazz band. I found my whole evening was enjoyable. This hotel is a very unique and special place to go. Great for a girl's weekend away or a romantic vacation. I will definitely be back! I can't wait to see what their rooms are like!!! :)
I went to the Lion's Den in the basement of the red lion Inn for a beer and a small dinner. It was a really cozy atmosphere with a roaring fire and free music every night. Gary at the bar was very nice and personable. He knew everyone's names and made sure we all got what we needed during our whole stay. he was great! The beer was really expensive as well as all the food on the menu. It was small and cozy, but with tourism starting up this weekend, there probably won't be too many spaces at the bar or the cozy, small tables on the weekends. I like it but will only go at times I know it wont be too busy as that kind of ruins the atmosphere.

The Lion's Den, located at the Red Lion Inn, is completely different from the Inn itself so this review shouldn't be included under "Red Lion Inn". Sounds like this unhappy customer has an attitude problem because the Inn and the Den have always been our favorites.
