Not impressed, this is one of the most expensive restaurants in the Leominster-Fitchburg area and the prices are not justified. People will tell you that it rivals Worcester establishments like 111 Chop House, but that is ridiculous - the only thing the Grill has in common with those places is nice, contemporary furnishings and a nice atmosphere; the food in no way compares.
Two of us ate there recently and in short, it went like this: nice waitress; drinks were good, came out fast; appetizer was fine, came out quickly as it was fried calamari; main courses took 30+ min and waitress didn't come back at all between clearing our appetizer and bringing the meals; main dishes arrived and we were surprised at how poor the quality was.
One was a grilled tuna special: tuna was acrid tasting and grey with a "lobster butter" (dried out lobster meat floating in a congealed reddish oily sauce that was not a true "buerre" sauce). The other was a haddock dish that was average, but fish was on the cold side and had obviously been sitting under the food lamp for a while (probably through most of that 30 min wait). We politely didn't eat the tuna and asked to have it taken off the bill. Waitress was great, took care of it, and then the manager came to apologize and just ended up telling us we were wrong, and that there was nothing wrong with the fish, she checked the whole batch. We have worked in restaurants, and I know she didn't "check the whole batch"; she asked the cook, who told her it was delivered in the last few days, and she came to our table to prove us wrong. It left my dining partner feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable, as she stood there repeating several times that she would take it off of the check but there was really nothing wrong with it, making him out to be a fool. We paid the check and left, walking by the hostess sitting at the door playing with her cell phone, and there was no thank you to us or to any of the other groups we walked out with. Will not be spending our money there again on food; I would consider going back just to the bar for a drink, but then again, why not buy a drink elsewhere?
5 of us went to the Monument Grill on Ladies Night Out and stopped there for supper. We first went to Marlin's but it was closed. The lady was very pleasant on getting us seated and the waiter took our order. It took 1 hr and 15 minutes to get our meal - 3 of us had hamburgers. Mine was burnt. I ordered well done but not burnt on both sides. By the time we got our meal, ate it and paid the bill, all the events were done. We got to see the last 1/2 hours of the fashion show. The waiter never came by and explained what was holding up the meal. I will never go back there or recommend it to anyone.
My wife and i go to the monument grill maybe once a month and have never had a bad meal there, we think that it is accully better than the 111 chop house, you can get the same food for a cheaper price and don't have to drive that far. My wife loves the braised short ribs and I like the Filet strog both dishes have great flavor. We will be going back quite often.
