User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI live behind LalaJava. My family loves it, especially my son who lived on their bagels and creamcheese. In fact every weekend when I ordered bagels they asked if they were for my son. Try their lemonade, it's delicious.

What a great idea in a dumpy little building... hard to get in and out of (it's right on the corner of a busy intersection - rt9) The parking lot is a mess - and on a rainy day it's a giant mud puddle. With the overpriced coffees, you think they'd have some $$ left over to get the lot paved! I found the coffee just average... I've heard others say they're not bad, but the building is so small and cramped, good luck trying to stand in line withough getting bumped by other customers. If you're looking for a muffin or a snack to go with your coffee, don't expect them to be served to you. I was appalled to find them all out in the open (not behind the counter) for customers to help themselves. All I could think was "I hope the Mom in line ahead of me didn't let her kids touch the muffins!" Gross! So basically, it's not worth the hassle in the least. Oh, and their hours stink. They're missing out on the idea of what a great coffeehouse should be. I drive by this intersection ALL the time on my way home - and more than a few times I would have loved to stop to give them another try. But alas, they were closed. So, I guess that means that Lalajava is missing ALL they key ingredients to make a great coffeehouse. Average coffee, high prices, inconvenient location, awful business hours...and they just opened another shop in Northboro. (I would have rather they spent time getting the Shrewsbury location right!) I bet that one closes early, too... but at least it's in a new building with a paved parking lot!

Lala here...Actually, the corner of a busy intersection is a GREAT location. There are stop lights which give Lalajava easy access in and out. The parking lot is a mess! Without a lease (do you know what that is?) it is a bad business move to invest over $10,000 for a parking lot to be paved. However, in the Spring we do fill in the holes. Our coffee is fresh roasted weekly...meaning, we place the order, the green beans get roasted and shipped out the next day, and we have very fresh coffee for our well-deserved customers. And then we start all over again the next week. The 'big guys' can't do this because they have to warehouse their coffee...but they have great paved parking lots. The building is small and cramped (did you know there are a couple of rooms in the back?). Yes, you may get bumped by other customers...our very friendly customers. We do have self-serve baked goods...not 'in the open'...nicely displayed in covered containers...in keeping with health code regulations. The muffins are a little too high up so the 'kids' can't even reach them. What's wrong with 'kids'? Our hours are 6am-6pm. We tried with later hours but it didn't warrant staying open late. Where were you? So, the key ingredients here are fresh, roasted coffee weekly, prices that are not out of range, PERFECT location, business hours that work for us and our customers (but not for you...sorry). So...you still checked out our new location? I have a lease in Northborough...and a PAVED parking lot!
Here's an idea. Get a life and maybe a job. You have too much free time on your hands to be bashing the best coffee shop on earth. If you want cheap crap go to dunkin.
