My husband and I have eaten here quite a few times, but after yesterday, I think we will be finding another place to eat. For the most part, the food is always good and the service is ok (not excellent because the waitstaff always just seem to be somewhere else).
A while ago we had eaten there and I got the Shanghai Pan Fried noodles (a great combo of crispy noodles, sauce, veggies, chicken, shrimp and pork). I do not eat red meat at all and when the dish was brought out, it had beef in it. I let the waitress know that it was not supposed to have beef in it and asked if it could be remade. I watched the waitress walk over to the kitchen and return about 2 minutes later. (That's some fast cooking...) I casually asked her, "You didn't just go in back and pick out the beef, did you? Because I can't eat red meat at all." To which she replied, "Oh, no of course not." She walked away and I picked up the top few pieces of veggies on top and found a piece of beef under them. Nice. So after asking to have it remade the second time, it finally was done right. What did the restaurant offer us for this mess up?? They offered to get my husband another drink from the bar. Really?! No comp'd meal on my part or anything. The worst part was that when the manager came over to talk to me about it she said that she could see it happening because there are so many different things in the dish.
I should have just stopped coming after that but we decided to return again for another dinner.
Yesterday we went there and got some of the Peking Ravioli for an appetizer. I was getting ready to eat one and cut it into pieces. I suddenly saw something sticking out from the meat in the middle. I thought that it may have been a stem from an herb plant, but no. I pulled it out and it as a thin rubber band. I recognized the manager from the last fiasco and called her over to the table. I told her that i just found the rubber band in the middle of the Ravioli and she said, and I quote, "Oh, that's not surprising." Really, because I'm pretty damned surprised that it was in my food! She takes the appetizer away with our plates and silverware. A new appetizer was delivered to us about 10 minutes later with some plates...but no silverware. We then had to search for our waiter to get us some more. Once the manager came back she said that they would be giving us free desert. Free dessert?? Something that I NEVER order when I go there. Not a free appetizer, not a free anything that would be on the bill, but a free dessert. Then as if that wasn't a big enough annoyance, once the waiter brought us the check and our left over food, he forgot to bring us the desserts!
I think it's time to put this restaurant in the "ex" category and move on to something bigger and better.
I think the people below eat on a regular basis in chinatown or they just got really bad service because this is the best chinease food I have had in the worcester area and I have tried many places. I now eat there on a regular basis and it is one of the few chinease places that doesn't give me heartburn. As far as the "healthy" thing they have going on?? not too sure about that but it tastes great!
Buffet was just OK...however....that was the best wonton soup I have ever eaten off the menu.
