Great Pizza & Roasted Veggies: After returning from my 5th trip to Italy last night I can write after years of eating pizza and roasted vegetables from Bertuccis I can give them a great rating for their thin crust pizza with nice sauce and pieces of mozzarella (like traditional Neopolitan cuisine) and for oven roasted vegetables. Their Sicilian eggplant parmiagiano isn't half bad and their old dish antipasto arrosto (gone now unfortunately!!!!) was tasty with capoonata, carmelized onions, zucchini and red peppers. I prefer their pizza to every other pizza place in Massachusetts - with the exception of the rare high quality North End pizzeria. I know it's a chain but I've actually had WORSE pizza in Rome! Seriously, side from the famed Pizzeria Buffetta (where we ate twice - delicious!) all the other pizza in Rome, Italy was disappointing! (Naples pizza was the best in the world ofcourse - and although Bertuccis can only use American ingredients *not as farm fresh or sun ripened as Italian ingredients!) I prefer their pizza because they make it in the traditional way (the margherita pizza I'm referring to). SKIP THE SALADS - I find the salads in all the Bertuccis are just plain awful - iceberg lettuce and celluouse powdered cheese and raw flavorless mushrooms, etc... My reccomendation: Margherita Pizza (ask for it cooked well done) and roasted Tuscan Vegetables. (You may like the pasta dishes, chicken, fish or meat - I personally don't like the pasta - I prefer pasta from Italy, it's heartier and more flavorful or from PAPARAZZI).
All in all - FABULOUS PIZZA.
Bertuccis is great...just not this one!: The lights are dim....not to mention the place is crowded and gives you no standing room when you are waiting. The staff is pushy to get you out, and is very unatentive to your needs. Took 30 minutes to get our drinks! Food isn't that great either(Other locations are EXCELLENT!) I would suggest either the Easton, or Braintree chain.
This is not Bertucci's!: A few low-lights: 1. The rolls were not the distinct Bertucci's rolls that all who go there have come to love. They tasted re-baked and didn't have even a hint of cornmeal. Brick-oven? I don't think so. 2. Very low quality side vegetables. 3. Entrees tasted microwaved. 4. The side salads were not side salads. They were a few randomly thrown together vegetables.
This was take-out, but if the rolls are not the original Bertucci's, the rest can't be either.
