   Consistent personal banking service: We presently have our checking and savings accounts in a VERY large bank that is always making major errors. We started looking for an alternative with a better attitude, better service, and fewer fees. We tried several local banks with small accounts just to get the flavor of how they are to deal with. The one that we more most pleased with is Sovereign Bank, which has an office on the main street of our town. When we went in we were greeted by a bank service rep who recognized us from the days when she worked for that other large bank. She was genuinely delighted to see us again and to help us with the paperwork and the choice of account. She went through the advantages of their offerings and said that if one type turned out to be not exactly what we needed she would quickly move the account into another type (we ended up with "totally-free checking"). We have been in several times since (for withdrawals, transfers, and free-coin redemption) and are always greetled warmly and usually followed-up with a phone call at home making sure that our experience was pleasant. Now that is a change from our VERY large former bank.
