About:Since opening in 1969, New England Aquarium, a waterfront landmark has become one of Boston's biggest tourist attractions. The most famous exhibit, the massive 200,000-gallon "Giant Ocean Tank," has a simulated Caribbean coral reef in which sharks, sea turtles, moray eels and tropical fish cruise by crowds of children pressed against the glass. Other marine galleries contain piranha, sea otters and three species of penguins. As if all that were not enough, the aquarium also offers whale watching cruises , seal shows, and its very own IMAX Theater .

I haven't been to this aquarium since I was 8 and I don't think it has gotten any better. I was very disappointed. On the other hand the IMAX theater was cool. This museum is not worth the admission price. I say it was worth about $5.

In fairness to the Aquarium, when it opened almost 40 years ago, it was a one of the finest in the country, won design awards, plus national acclaim and attention. About a decade ago the Aquarium tried to relocate to East Boston and upgrade and expand, but the locals voted it down over traffic concerns. But what was impressive decades ago isn't competitive today- they almost lost their accrediatation a few years back. The NE Aquarium was great in its day, but other reviewers are right when they say it's overdue for a major expansion and upgrade.

Love going to different Aquariums, but this is my biggest saddens me due to the fact that I live in this state. The big exibit is a joke. Only thing that is cute are the penguins.

They are more interested in just taking your money then having a Great Aquarium.

Everything is way over priced, forget about bringing your car.

Atlanta has the tank with the whale sharks.

The NY Aquarium is totally fantastic, downside is parking is tough due to the location. Oh the location is next to Coney Island.
