My wife and I both ate there in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Service is friendly and real. Food has a terrific taste. I think the sauce is extra special. We asked for more sauce and homemade dunked bread and sauce and drank wine and it was great.

Overall, the experience at Antico Forno was good. Dishes ordered included rigatoni pasta with Italian sausage and chicken parmesan (the night's special). Not including drinks, dinner ran about $25 each (with a salad or appetizer). The food was good - served hot and generally tasty. The atmosphere gave a family-owned feel. The food and experience was good - we had a nice meal and the people were very nice - but the meal was not in the "wow" category. I could see trying another place - not because this place was bad but simply because so many other Italian places in the area. Some reviews I have seen commented on Antico Forno's excellent Pizza, which we did not have. The parmesan cheese shaker on the table may have been a clue that the place was more about pizza than fancy dishes. I can't help but say that freshly grated cheese would have taken it up a notch. Without question, the area around Salem and Hanover Streets is a neat area to visit and walk around. Plan to leave the car at home - parking was not easy to find.

First time visit last Sunday, January 27th 2008. Food was terrific. The roast chicken was delectable and the linguine con vongole was memorable. Service was very good and the waiter was attentive. The atmosphere is cozy and warm and the entire experience was like a page out of southern Italian guide book. Cannot wait to go back!
