Just stopped by this weekend, had an espresso and lobster tail at a table. It's an absolute must stop for me EVERYTIME I'm on Hanover St! Table service isn't that bad, just don't expect the type of service you get at a Diner; you are in Boston, afterall.. Without a doubt the best lobster tails (fresh whipped cream!) and cannoli anywhere. Some locals claim it's too touristy, but it beats the rest in the north end. Great espresso, cappucino and latte as well.
I'm not the easiest man to live with, and a box of cannoli from Mikes has gotten me out of more than a few scrapes. You won't be dissapointed.
I love their Ricotta Cheese Pie. It is my favorite. I also tried their Tiramisu before. It tastes pretty good, but they do not refrigerated it cold enough in their cafe. Their Tiramisu tastes better when you buy it, bring it back home, and then place it in your home's refrigerator for a few hours.
While the cannolis are absolutely wonderful, their on-line ordering service is deplorable. I have loved Mike's for years, and after moving to Texas was thrilled to learn that I could order on-line. Unfortunately, they don't provide what they promise. I placed my order on a Monday night, called Monday and Tuesday to confirm the order, as it was a birthday gift for my mother, recieved an e-mail confirmation that they had shipped the order on Tuesday and then waited. And waited. And waited. Spent $45 on overnight shipping, which is how the cannolis are shipped, and never received them. So on Friday morning I called to find out what was going on, and discovered they couldn't find my order. I was on hold for approximately 15 minutes before they finally said they would have to call me back. 3 hours later they called to say that "someone must have deleted the order and I'll guess we'll have to refund your money." Odd, as they sent an e-mail to me saying they shipped on Tuesday. Guess they lied about that. And yeah, you have to refund my money. If you can buy in store, it's well worth it. If you have to order on-line, don't bother.

I too am soooo disappointed in your mail service, my sister sent me cannolis, they were delivered and sat out in the hot 95 degree Virginia weather plus some were broken and when I called to tell them they said they would get back to me and they did but that person said she would have to talk to her manager, well duh, no one called back and we also said we weren't calling to have them replaced we just wanted the order corrected with my sister, still have never heard a thing, now yesterday my daughter just returned fromNantucket and stopped by Mike"s and brought us the worst , hardest biscotti ever on the earth, but that is not bad enough she also brought lemon frosted plain cookies which also were stale tasting hard and terrible, tasteless, so as you can expect Mike's is off our family list.
