About:Deep in the South End , there is a small establishment where inexpensive, gourmet-quality food really does exist. The menu at Franklin Cafe ranges from meatloaf to sushi-grade tuna, all served with impeccable sides such as mashed potatoes with chives or lentil and bean sauce. Even the chicken livers are great here. The dining room is small and crowded, and the noise level can be high. This cafe, which has a full service bar, is very popular, and waits of an hour or two are common, even on weekdays.

This is a very small place and be prepared to wait. But as it is said “Good things come to those that wait” and it will here. It is usually packed and everyone is in the same situation but everyone is friendly and the bar tender is good and fast. Just get to the bard, get you Hendricks Martini and have fun meeting people. This is the real place in Boston “that everyone knows your name”

One of my favorite's in Mass: If you try the grilled calamari and you don't like it, you may want to stop eating altogether. Everything I have tried off their menu is exellent.

Only two minor criticisms and they aren't serious enough to warrant a reduction in points:
    1) The wait can be a real bugger, so be prepared for that (by prepared I mean expect to consume a few lovely martinis)
    2) Please, please, please give me more hummus as the starter. I could eat twice that much by the time I am sat. The service folks always cheerfully bring you more if requested.

Great job Franklin! Like it, love it, can't get enough of it.
