Whenever I'm in Boston I make a point of eating at ATlantic Fish Company on Boylston. By now, I've probably tried everything on the menu but my favorites are the Chilean Sea Bass, Tuna steak, Swordfish steak, and Sea Scallops.
The service is great but I suggest that you get reservations (preferably after 9) because it is always busy. At that time, you'll be able to relax and linger after your meal without feeling rushed.
Very fresh seafood and attentive waitstaff. I would have been lots happier had my scallops not been gritty as they were exceptionally sweet. However, the meal as a whole was very enjoyable.
My lovely girlfriend and I decided to spend New Years in Boston as a means to get away, and truly have some alone time. Upon doing a search for seafood restaurants, she came across the Atlantic Fish Co. We went to their site, downloaded the menus, which things sounded delicious. We were both craving seafood for the next few days. She made a 6:30 reservation (which I thought on New Years Eve in Boston...YEAH RIGHT). However, when we checked in, they immediately said, "we will get your table ready momentarily." We walked over to the bar, got a couple drinks, and went to stand in the front just to avoid the busy pathway of the bar traffic. As we got to the front, the host told us our table was ready. I am not even sure 10 minutes had passed before we were seated. Shortly thereafter, our server Celeste came over to greet us, and to talk to us about the menu. We had read the reviews, and just about, everyone said you need to try the crab cakes. You definitely get your money's worth as they serve mostly crabmeat, and not mostly breading. They were a little bland; however, if you love crab cakes, these are a great start to the meal. Her main course was the Seafood Fra Diavolo consisting of shrimp, scallops, and mussels with linguini in a spicy arrabbiata sauce (basically a tomato/spaghetti sauce with roasted red pepper). This dish definitely has a kick, and will leave your lips tingling. The only issue we had with the dish was the size of the mussels, otherwise it was delicious. I had the Grilled Swordfish with crushed new potatoes asparagus, and red wine braised/caramelized shallots. The fish was perfectly cooked; however, the red wine braised shallots were ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! They DEFINITELY made the dish. Throughout the meal our server was checking on us, often enough to make sure we were set, but not too much to the point where it was annoying. The manager also checked in on us and every other patron several times. Stopping to wish us a Happy New Year, but more importantly to make sure everything was ok with the food and service. I even overheard him offer a patronâs meal free as they felt it had been slightly over-cooked. After a filling meal, my lovely better half and I decided to split some lemon sorbet. Overall, it was a FANTASTIC experience. The food was delicious, and the service was AMAZING for such a hectic night such as New Years. To cap the night off, Celeste took our picture, and I had to ask, "How much do you sell your wine glasses for?" She laughed and stated with a wink "we don't, but that doesn't mean they can't disappear on New Years." She went out back, grabbed a couple of clean glasses, wrapped them up, put them in a bag and wished us a Happy and Safe New Years. The ONLY downside of the experience was the parking. Normally you would be able to park on the street (plenty of spaces) however; parking on the street was banned because of the New Year so we had to park in the Prudential Center. WHAT A RIP OFF! $34 for two and a half hours of parking...If you want to save some money, either park on the street, or park somewhere and take the T. We HIGHLY recommend this restaurant, and will definitely be going back! (I mean we need to try to complete the set of wine glasses)
