One of my favorites: I usually go to the Newton location, but I assume the one in Boston is similar. It's one of my favorite places to go take out, not too expensive and amazing food. I'm incredibly picky about spices and food in general, and I love their stuff. And as simple as it may sound, it serves some of the best rice I've ever had...then add on the other amazing food.
The experience of eating in the restaurant is nothing special (except for the exceptional food), so I'd recommend it more than anything as a wonderful place to get a takeout dinner.
Always good: Fresh spring rolls and pho is the way to go.
Great Value: In the heart of Harvard Square, Pho Pasteur is a great value. Their pho soups are large and hearty and only around $5-7. I can't wait to go in the winter. We've had lunch and dinner there and it is a very solid dining experience and a part of our dinner rotation.
