"Back in the Saddle Again": I enjoyed earning my undergraduate degree at UMass Boston very much. I found the atmosphere to be very welcoming in relation to both the academic/administrative staff and the student body. I also found the campus itself to possess a positve vibe as it is set on the coast in a private little edge of Boston. One of the reasons why I liked (or like) UMass Boston so much has to do with the fact that I didn't feel like any type of slant was being pushed on me through the academic curriculum, and when I did find myself in a polarized position with a professor I often found that polarization to be conducive to the aims of higher education. Another reason why I really liked UMass Boston has to do with the academic staff's committment to the student. I felt like they really wanted what was best for the student and on more than one occassion I had received the support and impetus from the academic staff at UMass to get the job done. As far as the academic curriculum itself goes I found it to be challenging but not unreasonable. Truthfully speaking I believe the curriculum is what the student makes it, there is always more to learn and only so much one can learn in 14 week semesters no matter what school one goes to. I would also say that UMass Boston is a "best buy" value, you can take an entire semester course load at UMass Boston for the price of what some schools charge for a single class (kind of makes you wonder what those other schools are selling). I hope this review was helpful, take care and God bless.
What more could you want in a university?: I can't stress enough what a positive experience at UMass Boston. When I began attending undergraduate classes there, I was a young mother with two small boys. The flexibility of scheduling made it possible for me to complete my education in the usual amount of time without my family having to suffer neglect. Furthermore, the quality of the education I received was, I believe, second to none. A knowledgeable and accessible faculty made coursework intellectually enriching and stimulating. I went on to earn two postgraduate degrees at world-class institutions, including Harvard; UMass Boston can and does prepare you for anything if you give back effort commensurate with what you're offered. All this, and it was completely affordable and easy to get to; as I said in the title, "What more could you want in a university?"
