| About: | Though Charlestown has long been known as an Irish neighborhood, this area has quietly become a site for several fine ethnic eateries, including this Italian restaurant called Paolo's Trattoria. Be sure to arrive with an appetite, as portions are generous. In addition to a large selection of gourmet pizzas, the menu offers tempting selections such as scallops with risotto, sauteed chicken, handmade fennel sausage and fettuccine with a hearty bolognese meat sauce. Desserts are large, rich and delicious. The restaurant serves beer and wine. |

I've eaten here several times and every one was a winner. Food is freshly prepared, nicely presented, with no disappointments. Well-priced for the generous portions. Shrimp scampi, salmon (my favorite) are great, but I don't think you can go wrong here. If you like calamari, it's a must-have. If not, go for the antipasto. They make their own bread, which is a pitfall if you are trying to save room for the amazing bread pudding. Atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. It's a neighborhood gem that's becoming a destination for some of us who don't live in town. Well worth a try.
Who needs the North End???: Pricey, but the food is amazing ,and you ll miss the northend nonsense,
