My girlfriend and I celebrate our anniversary here every year. We love their stouts as well as their appletinis. The service is great and the vibe is chill. Highly recommended!
This is a really great place. . . Or, at least it could be. The food is really decent pub fair as long as you stick to the normal stuff (i.e burgers, pizza, potpie, meatloaf. . . ) and the beer is phenomenal. These guys really know what they're doing. They usually have a really nice aray of beers on their list from lager style to irish dry stouts to bitter, hoppy IPAs. The service is always top-notch. The bartenders are pleasant and knowledgeable. The waitstaff is polite and efficient. The atmosphere is open and roomy although a bit cave like. The music, generally, leaves something to be desired (peter cetera any one?). The music however doesn't leave as much to be desired as the general clientel. I mean, honestly, have these people ever been to a restaurant before? Sweet jesus! First off, I had a bunch of people sit down next to me at the bar and get this. . . no one ordered a beer. I wanted to be like "um. Excuse me. You know you're at a brewery right?" Theres like 9 other bars in a 1 block radius that have mixed drinks. No breweries. The same people left the bartender 3 dollars on 5 mixed drinks. Unacceptable. Then I watch more than 1 table walk into the "pub" area, put their stuff down and walk directly to the bar. Again. ????? Usually when one sits at a table they have a waitress. There are like 20 tables in the pub area alone. Did these people think the bartender would be responsible for all of them? The lack of "pleases" and "thank yous" were astounding, as well. I've been to a lot of the bars in the harvard square area. Maybe I picked a bad night but I've never experienced such embarassing impoliteness from my fellow pub goers. The patience and understanding of these bartenders was amazing. I don't think I could work in the service industry. I'd be fired for explicitely explaining to customers how to behave themselves in public. Regardless of these fairly ignorant people, though. The overall experience is enjoyable. I'll definitely give it another shot. If anything, maybe I can get drunk enough to explain politeness to people.
The rudest service by the bar tender I have ever experienced. I don't know what self-esteem problems this guy had, but I'm never going to this place again.
