Border Cafe may not offer the best Mexican food in town, but serves the best margaritas. Maybe that is why patrons do not seem to mind the wait that is often well over an hour on weekends. A party atmosphere rules here; many of the diners are college students and exuberant tourists. Portions are giant and cheap. Favorites include zesty, fizzling fajitas and popcorn shrimp. This is a good choice for a large party.
I like this place very much. Not much to offer in the way of vegetarian items, but what they do have is good. I really like the chips, salsa and guacamole. Staff tends to be a little harsh if not rude at the hostess station. I don't buy, "we focus on the quality of our entree's so we don't offer dessert" line. Maybe I don't love it as much as I think I do.
Favorite place: Border cafe is one of our favorite places. The margaritas are absolutely delicious, and the food is always perfect. Service is great, staff is friendly, and the prices are too good to be true. Worth the wait! Try the cadillac fajitas, gulf coast enchiladas, and the chicken burro....
