Anna's Taqueria is a great taco/burrito place but don't go to this one at MIT.
They are extremely stingy with the portions of meat, rice/beans, veggies, etc.
I tried to get no beans, extra rice and they charged me an extra $1.25 for the rice. I got two burritos, so it came out to $2.50 extra, I could have gotten another burrito for a $1.50 more...
Anyways, I hardly write reviews, but after today's experience, I had to get the word out.
It's not a west coast burrito joint, and I love it for what it is: fast food that's slow food. There is nothing terribly trendy on the menu - no tofu, no shrimp - the selection of meats is well prepared, and the service is fast. The super burritos and quesadillas are of generous proportions. Same with the Mexican plate. It's a great staple restaurant - good real food, nothing fancy about it.
It is inexpensive, tasty (I love getting the 1/2 & 1/2 carnitas and chili verde super burrito), open late, clean and just really yummy.
If you've never been in a burrito joint, and there's a line, it can be daunting because it moves so fast. Get ready to order a "super burrito with x" (x = whichever your choice of meat or roasted veggies). They'll ask "beans?" meaning pinto, black or refried beans (or no beans); then "What else?" meaning salsa, guacamole, sour cream, hot sauce and/or jalepanos. I was baffled the first time I went in, but have since beomce something of a regular. Once you get the hang of it, branch out to other menu stuff!
OVER-RATED!: Anna's isn't terrible. But it's pretty bad. The meat is chewy and watery, and the portions really aren't that amazing.
I'll never understand why people like Anna's... it just shows West Coast dominance in burritos!
