This place has gotten ridiculously popular the past few years. It's a "roadstop Indian experience" -- you go in (if you're not waiting outside), and there are Bollywood music videos blasting on the tv. The food is excellent -- the eggplant dish (bangain bharta) and lamb marsala are great -- and the prices are very cheap. Meals are served on these tin platters -- it was a bit strange to me, but I guess that's authentic. There's a cute eating room upstairs where you can sit and watch the hustle and bustle of Inman Square.
If you don't mind the wait of 10-15 minutes just to order, it's a great place to have dinner. And walking around Inman Square afterwards is a great way to work off the extra piece of Naan you probably shouldn't have had!
True to its name: Dhaba style food and atmosphere. Don't expect a comfortable ambience and restaurant style food. The food is basic dhaba(roadside restaurant) style and so is the atmosphere. It is self service but worth the effort for the simple flavours of punjabi dhabas.
We all had a great time!: My friends and I really love this place, the scene is always lively, and the music is always pumping. The food is great! The dhaba is much more fun than sitting on your bum trying to bop to some sappy sitar music like at other indian places. You won't get bored here. TIP- The upstairs rooms are great for private lunches, but during dinner the whole place goes public. :)
