   12/8/07 - My husband just returned from your Costco in Avon,MA we live 40 miles away. Having given him my card and our checkbook. He and my son went to purchase the Nordictrak 1500 Item No. 229987 an $800 item. I am disabled and no way capable of lifting the item so my son needed to go and help. It was not the fact that he was turned away for using my card, but it was how your personel up front were of absolutley no help and would not sell him the item. We have been members since 1991 you don't know how disappointed I am in your manner of conducting business. Under the circumstance they could've offered to call for verbal permission if that was the case. Needless to say you lost a nice sale and faith in your service.

   The membership card says "NON TRANSFERABLE" and has since 1991 as well. They can get a manager to let a small item slide, like picking up a birthday cake or something. But when it comes down to an item that may need to be warrantied they cannot. Sorry you are disappointed they enforced their stated rules. For what it's worth, that treadmill was an incredible deal. Your son should have signed up for a membership himself ($50) and bought the treadmill. Still a better deal than you could get anywhere else. And memberships are refundable for up to a year (you can get the $50 back on day 364 if you wanted.)

   Your husband should have his own card. If you've been a member for that long, you should know that. Costco is the best operation in the country, in my view. Don't blame Costco, blame yourself or your husband for not having the knowledge of how Costco works, or that you can get a card for a family member at no additional membership charge. It's just not right to blame someone else for your mistakes.
