Average. Seriously, just average. I've been there many times over the years and they consistently over-cook the chicken and the pizza lacks pizza sauce, even if you ask for extra sauce.
There are much better pizza places around.
My wife and I went to the Plymouth location expecting to have a relaxing lunch before continuing with our shopping. At 11:30AM we were the first patrons there for lunch. We did not enjoy the experience because the "music" they had playing was too loud and was of a type to not be conducive to a relaxing meal. The continuous playing of "Buzz Ballads" was not appropriate background music for a dining experience, and when asked to turn it down, the manager, Lauren, was rude and unapologetic about it, saying that it was company policy to have the music. After my commenting to her about it, and the fact that I was finding it difficult to hold a conversation, she did turn it down, albeit ungraceously. By the time we were halfway through our meal, she had turned it back up. If music is necessary, then it should be at background level and not of a type and volume to suit young employees.
Our waitress, Hilary, was very pleasant and I do not hold her responsible for the actions of her manager.
The food left a lot to be desired. My wife ordered the stuffed shells and they arrived swimming in a puddle of sauce. Not enough pasta and too much sauce. I ordered the eggplant parmesian with angelhair pasta. What arrived was a huge pile of pasta with little sauce and a gelatenous blob of what I guess was the eggplant. Very unappetising! The best part of the meal was the wine. We did not even stay for coffee.
My reccomendation is for Mama Mia's to find a new manager for the Plymouth location, one that is in tune with the needs of the public.
I certainly will not be returning to that location.
I read the reviews and most were raving about the great food at Mama Mia's. The prices are resonable fortunate for the unfortunate who decide to dine there. The eggplant though tender was absolutely tasteless. The bread was a spongy blob. I took the eggplant off the bread because it wasn't worth the calories. My mother-in-law and husband both ordered checken dishes are were very disapointed. The portions were generous but overrun by the pasta. You were unable to taste the marsala or piccata because there was way too much pasta. Shouldn't pasta come on the side with sauce? Plus the chicken was all curled up. Not very appetizing to look at. The pizza actually wasn't bad and my son's kids meal was good. When we received the bill my children were charged for their sodas even though the menu states that children's beverages are included in the cost of the meal. I ordered the eggplant sub only and the waitrees added fries which were an addtional $1.00. I brought this to her attention and she did remove these charges ($5.50 in total). The restaurant itself was clean with a great view of the water. We would go back for pizza but that would be it. Some of the worst Italian food we've ever eaten. And to think they have been able to open 4 or 5 other Mama Mia locations. Good Italian food must be scarce in MA.
