Great place to hang out: I spent a Saturday night there with a bunch of friends and we had a great time; not a place to go super rowdy, but you will have a great time hanging out with friends. Would highly recommend it.
THE Place to Grab a Drink/Hang Out (Publick House): I live blocks from this place and missed out on it the first year I lived here. Now I go all the time. The best beer selection I have ever seen, especially craft and international brews. It has widened my eyes and now makes wine bars appear boring. I have eaten here a couple times and enjoyed it. To be honest, the best value is to order a bunch of sides while you are drinking. The disappointment in their quest to be the best beer bar is that if your friends enjoy cocktails or something else, they'll have trouble getting what they want. Arrive early on Red Sox games nights, as it will be packed.
The Publick House: If you're interested in good beer, good food, and a big screen to watch the Red Sox on, then this is the place.
In truth, the Publick House truly serves good beer, and they don't serve shots of anything. Check out their microbrews and their excellent selection of Belgium Ales. If after the knowledgeable staff describes the beer you're still undecided, ask for a sample taste.
It's all good here.
