| About: | Blue Ginger, located in Wellesley, brings urban dining and sophistication to the suburbs. In celebration of its 10-year anniversary, Blue Ginger expanded with a Rockwell Group-designed renovation, creating a chic, feng-shui inspired space with three distinct dining options. Enhancements include an updated main dining room in which to savor Ming's signature East-West cuisine, three private dining rooms, and the new Lounge at Blue Ginger, complete with cozy banquettes and a 10-stool granite bar. An Asian Tapas menu is served in the Lounge, featuring casual, shareable dishes like "Ming's Bings," Ming's East-West take on the burger. "Blue Ginger is unusual, not only because of the food or the room, but because it's a neighborhood restaurant of a type not found too often in the Boston area...those of us who live farther away will just have to travel now that the secret is out." --The Boston Globe *NOTE* Reservations are not accepted for The Lounge at Blue Ginger |

My fiancee really wanted to try this place, so I took her there one night. We had reservations and showed up 5 minutes early only to wait 30 minutes for a table. The fried calamari appetizer and accompanying sauce was excellent. The Hanger steak was just okay. The rack of lamb with spicy pesto noodles was just okay as well. The food overall was okay, but not worthy of $35 per entree that they charge.
I've liked his fusion style for years, watched his shows and even tried his recipes. He not only is imaginative his food is refreshingly new in many different ways and exploits different ingredients in different ways. Finally I went to eat at Ming's place Blue Ginger with my mother and sister during lunch time. I was the only male in the place though. It was pretty full, not packed and has a nice airy feeling to the whole place. Not noisy at all. The waiter was excellent. I was going to try something else but the waiter recommended without reservations that I should try the butterfish. Glad I did. The butterfish fish entree/meal was not only pretty to look at it was magnificent. It tasted like "butter!" and worth it . It even had some little green fish roe caviar on it which was kind of cool. Very nicely presented. My mother and sister loved their dishes too. On the way I out I bought a copy of his book "Ming's Master Recipes" (already signed it previously. It has great recipes some different then others I had seen.Plus the price was most affordable and I had a gift to remember the place until I come back. The cranberry teriyaki sweet potato I made was great and the glaze on lamb was good too. too loud: I must say that I was expecting totally different atmosphere. I thought it would be nice and quiet place. Instead I felt like I was at the bar. I couldn't talk to my boyfriend and I couldn't hear him. Food was good. Service OK.
