My favorite Friday lunch spot: Let me preface this review by saying that I give this Friendly's a 5-star rating for it's IMPERFECTIONS... I'll explain, but other people may not like it specifically for the reason that I love it.

This is a typical Friday lunch spot, where I get to see my favorite waitress in the whole world: Mary. Mary is a woman in her twilight years who's a Needham Friendly's veteran. I think she's been there since the place opened... She's fabulous in my book because she has a carefree personality, she's always ready to talk about her weekend plans or how she's been doing lately, she remembers her customers, she calls us "kids" and she has a knack for never getting our order right. Yeah, you read me right. It's almost like a game to see who's the lucky one with the messed up order.

For instance, if you specify that you don't want bacon on your burger, there's a good chance you'll get extra bacon. If you order a burger at all, you may only get half the bun. If you want honey mustard on the side of your chicken sandwich, you'll probably have to ask for it at least twice. If you want a refill on your drink, stay on the lookout for it because it may end up on your neighbor's table. (Nothing a little hand off can't take care of.) You can also expect to get a broken straw with that beverage.

I won't go into the food and atmosphere because I'm pretty sure you all know all about the Friendly's menu and culture. But if you stop by this Friendly's, definitely try to get a table in Mary's section. Just don't expect perfection and you'll have a good time.
