When you first walk in you see residents walking around, walking their dogs, going to dinner, watching tv, etc. However, the security is lacking as there is often an empty front desk and doors with signs that they are locked at a certain time are never locked. Anyone can just walk in. The staff is friendly although not always professional. The cleaning of the resident rooms is spotty - just once a week and a quick go through. The food is good, although everymeal in the same place with the same three people at the table becomes boring. Medications are not always given on time and have not been given at all. Requests by residents for medications with a doctor's note for "as needed" (such as asprin, colace, etc) are not always given as the staff seems too lazy to look up to make sure there is a standing order. Residents are to be helped and reminded to go to activities. When looking for a place we were happy to find that Caterbury Woods said they encouraged residents to go to activities. It seems their "helping" is only announcing things over the loud speaker in the building. Not really a help since you can't really hear what they are saying when your door is closed. Other services, such as showers, have been skipped. The fee is for 2 assisted showers a week. It seems if they skip it they don't make it up. When looking to find a place to live staff is available 24 hours a day. After you move in and there are issues it is hard to find someone to speak to about them. I give it 2 1/2 stars. These first few months have been difficult and I am unimpressed. It is not horrible - it is clean enough, no one has seemed mean or abusive (although withholding an asprin could be considered abusive), and staff is friendly. However, for a place to state they provide more, then they should provide more. For a place that is supposed to be professional they should be professional. Hopefully after a few more months I can come back and give a better review.
