What a wonderful dining experience! Great food, excellent service and charming ambience all combine to make a memorable evening. Be certain to try the mushroom soup if available. It is the best I have ever had.
I'm afraid I cannot agree with the other reviews of this restaurant: although I must say that the staff and the ambiance were fine- the food fell short of expectations. The corn chowder that I had for an appetizer was much too sweet- something I have never experienced in a soup course. I must say that my wife's risotto was quite good. They then served some ridiculous savories served on china soup spoons- I will note that these are complementary- but if you blinked, you would miss them.
We than had our entrees - mine was some very French prepared chicken, which was totally tasteless; my wife had duck, which certainly fared better. The accompaning vegetables were about a tablespoon in size- I thought we had gone through nouvelle cuisine but I was wrong.
We are not new to the culinary scene, as we have traveled the world for over thirty years.
We we just disappointed to find that we were not inspired by Persimmon.
Quite possibly the best meal of my life... service was superb. Ask about the tasting menu and enjoy the guessing what the next dish will be.

If you travel the world than you would know that the little blink on the china spoon at the beginning of the meal is called an amuse bouche from France.
the only part worth reading of this review is where you call yourself "we we". Persimmon is by far one of the best restaurants in Rhode Island (if not the best). EVERYTHING is incredibly well thought out and overseen by the staff. EVERYTHING. Go there, eat, drink, then take a slow stroll down by the waterfront. It is sure to be a pleasant experience you will not soon forget.
