So this may be the best kept secret in Newport - it is more than worth the slight detour off Thames to experience some of the best food that you can have anywhere....let alone in what could be a tourist trap town. The fish of the day tandori style was awesome - the sangria was great -- the steak was tender perfectly done and had a great glaze - the chana masala was nicely balanced.

It is a nice place with great food and the worst service that you can ever get!

I have been to the Salvation Cafe several times and have never been disappointed! The restaurant has a funky interior and can be a bit crowded, but that's all part of the fun. The wait staff is friendly and the food is very good. I love the Teriyaki Salmon, and my kids love the Pad Thai and Salvation Burger. The prices are extremely reasonable for the large portions you receive. This is a great place to go with a group of friends or with your family, but not for a quiet, romantic evening.
