Good food. Could not believe the attitude. never want to go back there again.
The Lilac Blossom is my favorite restaurant in this area. I grew up in Hong Kong and the food served in this lovely place is the closest I've come to the flavors of my old home. Also the service is always great; my water glass is never empty. My favorite item on the menu is the scallion pancakes. I've only found these in one other restaurant in the States and they are as subtle as they ought to be, very tender on the inside, crunchy on the outside. We recently had a week long power outage and when they opened the restaurant they still had no computer service. Every member of the staff was there, writing every order out by hand and then someone else wrote it out in Chinese for the chefs...I have rarely seen such dedication. I highly recommend this establishment!
I used to be a frequent customer at Lilac Blossom, until 2 weeks ago...
What went wrong?
Well, I called for a take-out order (for two), around 5:30 pm on Friday night. I requested that one order of Sesame Chicken be made with Tofu instead, and was put on hold. They told me the kitchen was too busy to cook any substitutions, especially on weekends, and asked if I could call back later.
I was so shocked.
First of all, they easily dismissed a paying customer because Tofu was ordered. Tofu is on their menu, so it should be ready to cook. Secondly, I've ordered Tofu in Sesame sauce many times before this attempt -during the weekend.
I never called them back. Sorry, but I've never heard of a restaurant that was "too busy to cook".
