I bought stove, refrgierator, dishwasher, washer and dryer in March of 2004. I have needed service twice since then and have found the Laconia, NH Service Department overwhelmed. It is difficult to get through by phone and whenyou do, a service call can be over a week away. The person on the phone said "they don't make them like they used to so we're really busy". I decided that is was better to use an independant repair service and found them very helpful and there the same day. Oh yes, my 16 month old Maytag "Heavy Duty Extra Capacity" washing machine was a total loss as the transmission had failed after this short time with only a single person using. I suggest either a locally owned firm or Sears, at least they seem to have their act together in the service department.
