I loved this place the food was great as well as the atmosphere and I couldnt expect more out of the staff. The line was out the door but the owner still didnt show a sweat as she greeted every customer with a smile and conversation. It is a great place that has obviously become a staple in this small town. The sandwich I got was great and obviously had only the best ingrediants in it.
I wanted to be more impressed than I was, but the menu and staff were only average, in my opinion. Still, this is a nice little college town coffee joint where all the Henniker "cognoscenti," and blue collar guys in their dusty Carhart dungarees (and the weekend posers in their suspiciously clean, gently-worn Carharts) sit with coffee and paper.
Food - When I got it, my tomato basil bagel had either been over-toasted or stale to begin with, because it was hard as a rock, cold, and had maybe one or two pieces of tomato in the entire thing. My teeth hurt from practically having to gnaw the thing. Creamer ran out and they were slow to replace it, then didn't let me know when they had. It's a tiny place- they couldn't have given me a shout? Instead, my over-priced coffee went cold while I was waiting. Basically, the place needs to be more user-friendly, it needs to upgrade its menu, and train its staff how to make a bagel, clean off tables, and fill empty cream dispensers, especially if bagels and coffee are going to be its main morning staple.
