We went to Daniels to celebrate my daughters birthday. There were 9 of us.
The room was extremely loud. The service was horrible. Our food was cold! It took from 5:30 till 6:50 to get served. Our waitress came to the table twice during the time we sat there. We didn't get the salads that came with the pasta, she forgot half of the nachos and it was impossible to get waited on. We had to bring our own Birthday cake and ended up taking the cake home and celebrating at home.
When I asked to see the owner, he was condescending and tried to explain that they were very busy. This really didn't make me feel sorry for them ,as the bill was $195.
We have been dining at Daniel's every year for the past 10+ years when we visit Lake Todd which is about 15 miles away. This year, however, will be our last time to dine there. There were 7 of us for dinner and we were very disappointed with every dish we ordered - except for the Chicken Waldorf Salad. It seems they have "kicked it up a notch" with very spicy seasonings on most dishes, which rendered them inedible. We did send a couple of dishes back to the kitchen but our replacement entrees were just as bad. We certainly will not patronize Daniel's in our future trips to NH. It's a shame - it is a nice dining room and the view of the river is delightful but it's not worth suffering through the food offerings.
You have to be rich to eat here: If you're looking for value (portion size/price), don't look here. Though the prices are similar to many eateries of the same genre. The portion sizes are ridiculous. The service is good, the view of the river is great. Very cozy. I guess I just expect more for what they expect you to pay. You can go to the pizza shop next door to get the same view and the food is more than reasonably priced. I think they keep the price high to keep the college kids out!
