I've eaten at The Inn at Jaffrey Center on many occasions and although the wait is sometimes longer than I might like, the food has always been exquisite. In my opinion it's one of the better eating establishments in the Monadnock area.
We went to this place recently for their Sunday buffet.
With just a limited menu (and the place not being all that busy at the time we were there), I was not at all impressed. I had one of the two omelet dishes on the menu. It arrived in a "close to being cold" condition, was rather dried out (like it had been sitting under a heat lamp or something), and, despite the claimed ingredients that it had, was rather bland.
We were charged $4.00 a cup for coffee. That's plain (not really good quality or good tasting) coffee. Wow!
Service was just fair. Not at all on a par with the gratuity that was added to the bill (because, I guess, of the size of our party). Plus, the waitress got the bill and the order wrong. After the order was placed, the waitress came back and said that they had run out of one of the dishes ordered. A lower costing replacement was ordered. Yet, when the bill came, the higher priced item appeared on it.
The place may be "quaint" and all that, but it most certainly falls short where it matters most: on the quality and preparation of the food served, and on the efficiency of the waitstaff.
Prices are way too high for what the restaurant delivers up in return.
Food is good. Service is bad. Both very expensive.
