I never gave Pocos food a chance. As a frequent watering hole, we would usually go to the Brewery or Gas Light for dinner first, then finish off the night at Pocos with friends.
Last weekend we were in the mood to sit on the deck and have a drink. We had to order food to get a table, so we did. I got the Lobster Chowder which was fantastic and my wife got some nachoes, also great.
I never gave the food a chance. It's really good.
We're long time Portsmouth locals. Been going to Poco's for over a decade. The food and drink are very good (and worth more than 3 stars) but the service is usually not good - sometimes it's downright terrible (worthy of a 1 star). It's the price you pay for the great view and food. Just be prepared for bad service, order a drink so you don't notice and plan to stay a while (because the server will forget about you). Maybe the service has improved in the last six months since our last visit.
my wife and I drop in every time we are in Portsmouth.
Great place to enjoy either a big meal or just drinks and snack
