I went at the wish of my girlfriend to 99 in West Lebanon, NH as she has always liked it. She ordered some kind of chicken strips called "golden, ...etc." or something like that. I ordered a grilled salmon with asparagus and rice. The chicken should have been called nuggets as that is what they were, albeit with a bar top varnish coating of simple sugar syrup. The chicken under this blitzkrieg material of bread coating and sugar was hard and dry as dust. She ordered a side of FF which arrived luke warm and just the usual frozen product delivered from a supplier probably hundreds of miles away. Totally bad stuff that I decided after two or three had not seen the ground for many, many months in my opinion.

The salmon I had ordered was on a piece of wood for flavor? It was so over-cooked that I had to pry it off the wood. Extremely hot salmon has no taste. It was coated with more simple syrup. Are we starting to see a pattern here? Who said salmon should be coated with sugar? EUCK!!! It came with pencil-thin asparagus which were to be grilled. They had a grilled taste along with a sugar coating and were nearly raw; (how do they do that?). With that came about a cup of rice that Michelangelo could have used for glue on the Sistine Ceiling. The starch in the rice stuck to the roof of my mouth like tallow.

Most folks seemed to like the food as I looked around the restaurant and I do not deny them their fun time and pleasure. The main taste of 99 in West Lebanon is sugar and lots of it. If you think this is cuisine, then go for it! Pas pour moi!

If you like lots of food at a reasonable price, this is the place to go here, locally. If you like salad, their Southwestern Chicken Salad...yummy. As noted, when they are busy, be prepared to wait.

Ninety Nine Restaurant is a nice family restaurant with good New England fare. You can't go wrong with any of the fish entrees. I would avoid the popcorn they give you because it's extremely salty. The staff is nice and friendly, though during busy times it can be a bit difficult to find them. This is our standby place to go when we can't figure out what we're in the mood for.
