Mimmo himself seats you in the somewhat crowded diningroom. You bring your own bottle of wine or drink of choice. The menu was flled with delicious sounding choices. Staff were pleasant but very busy. Food was excellent but plan on a couple of hours for dinner if the diningroom is full. Be prepared for it being very warm/hot inside.
For any couple spending a night, weekend or a festive summer week in York, ME, a stop at one of the sales tax free New Hampshire State Liquor stores -- either in the I-95 rest-area b/n the MA border and the Hampton, NH toll-booth or on the Portsmouth, NH Traffic-circle is a must in order to stock up on a few bottles of Syrah or Pinot Grigio you'll need to accompany your meal at this one-of-a-kind family owned, family operated decades-old York Beach landmark.
With a menu crafted by a born and bred sicilian chef's intuitive knack for creating authentic blended dishes combining the time-honored traditional cuisine enjoyed by the likes of, Lorenzo de' Medici, Leonardo Da Vinci, with the finest and freshest of the local seasonal catch.
Don't forget your wine, and, trust me, all the years I've been visiting the wonderful seaside community of York Beach, ME, never have I missed visiting with Mimmo at his table each and every time I've been fortunate to secure my wife and I a weekend table for two in the front room. When we bring the kids along, we go in for the earlier 5-7pm seatings, but the atmosphere has, shall I say, a wonderfully organic tendency to loosen up as the evening moves along and Mimmo asks his daughter, Marianne, or Johanna or the ever lovely Kimberley to dim the lights a bit more more and casually infuse this unforgetable dining experience with timeless Frankie and classic Bennett ballads.
