Maria's is 1-2 blocks from our new home & we loved it. The waiter/owner was very helpful & polite, didn't rush us thru dinner, even after restaurant began to fill up. He brought me a sealed box for my take-home complete w/my uneaten real garlic bread. I've eaten in Italy & I'd definitely give Maria's 5 stars. Recommend it to anyone & we will definitely go back.
Great place for a harty Italian resturant. I took the wife and in-laws over to eat there before the Sienfeld show and all 4 of us had a fantastic meal. A great place to eat.
Horrible Experience: Finally I got the chance to eat at this restaurant. The experience was jut horrible. The waiter..which, I think is the owner, was rude, too fast..and...while I was eating we took my plate from me...OH GOD....yes he did! He moved my glass of water to make space on the table grabbing it from the rim! I ordered Veal Napoletano...with white pasta cause..I specified..I hate marinara sauce..and he brought me a plate covered with this sauce. When I complained about it he said that it was crushed tomatoes...so I told him i'm italian..and he answered "I am Italian, I know what a tomatoe looks like". I was in the middle of a talk with him and he took off calling the manager...which is his son....and which said "I don't understand your complain". My husband asked for a box to go for his meal....which I left because it took 10 minutes to get it...and who knows...what they did with it! The appetizer called Italian sampler costs 12 dollars, and it's a bunch of lettuce, carrots, canned olives....and three slices of pepperoni...What is that? Italian sampler? I asked for Italian bread, and I got toast, so I asked for garlic bread..and I got toast with spreaded garlic.
The smell! Oh, the smell of the restaurant was the smell of an old building. Anyways...this experience was terrible. I am 100% Italian, and I know that is impossible to find real Italian food in America..but Olive's Garden is the best....at least I always get what I ask...and no one is rude. End of the story...I paid 60 dollars for a bunch of lettuce, some toast, and two beers.
Good luck!
