The service was friendly and attentive. They turned the lights down at our request, which took away that initial nursing home feel. Cocktails were excellent and the server compensated for her lack of experience with the wine menu by giving us a taste to decide on what we wanted to accompany our meal.
My grilled haddock was good. The seasoning did not overpower the fish and it was cooked so that it was just done â moist and delicious. The green bean and carrot combo was a disappointment because the carrots were âbabyâ packaged and although the green beans were fresh and well cooked, the flavorless combination and visual appeal of a precut vegetable was not up to the expected standards for the price of the meal. Ditto that with the rice pilaf, which was a packaged product. My dining companions both had the seafood medley and it was terrible. It was dry yet greasy and bland; it lacked the crunch of a buttered crumb topping or the light freshness of a broiled dish. It wasnât nearly as good as what one can get anywhere on the coast of Maine in a plastic basket from a takeout window and not nearly worth the price. The portions were an average size, not a huge amount. I am not a big eater and I would have loved to have more of the haddock but that may have been because I found the vegetables and the rice so lackluster that I did not bother to eat them. Dessert was excellent, homemade and a portion that you can share. Oh, the lounge area was fun and cozy. We had a good time but the food was not that good and it was expensive for the quality of the food.
Excellent: Definately among the best in the area
if you are ever in the Bangor area: great seafood selection and the bluberry pie is heavenly....they also have a restaurant in Freeport if you don't make this far up
