User Rating: 2 out of 5 starsWe have been to King Eider's Pub several times without complaint, but this evening, we were very disappointed. We found the service to be lacking and felt ignored.
The clam chowder was the thinnest consistency that I have ever seen in a soup - forget the fact that it is supposed to be a chowder. I think it had 4 bits of clam in it. I do have to admit that it was tasty, but definitely NOT a chowder.
The sweet potato and sausage soup, while being tasty, seemed to be missing the sweet potato.
When we mentioned the complaint about the chowder to the manager, all he had to say in response was "I am sorry that you feel that way" and proceeded to stare at us in silence without an offer of correction. We expected a more sincere response. He also seemed to be irritated that we interrupted his chat with the bartender.
It is highly unlikely that we will return to King Eider's Pub.
Having lived in England, where the concept of "the pub" was introduced to me, I question their lack of cider selection.
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsKing Eiders Pub is as rare as it's name portrays: The authentic English pub atmosphere is ubiquitous throughout the establishment. Our preferred time to visit our favorite spot in Damariscotta is in the very late afternoon. We always start with a few Geary's Summer Ales, enjoyed in our Edgecomb Potter's Mugs, along with an order or two of Eiders crabcakes. Burgers are also great. Try their Bangers & Mashed for a dinner entree. You may expect service at the Pub to be personal and of high quality. Fare is very reasonably priced. Food quality & taste are superior. No visit to Damariscotta is complete, or more relaxing, when you include a stopover at King Eiders Pub. See you there, in the very late afternoon!
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThey had a viognier...: We have eaten here several times and have found the found great, sometimes the quarters were a little close but great food, everytime, we have never had a blunder with the service, always very alert to serve you, they have the wine I really like and a decent price and overall its a really nice place.
