Maine Seafood Delight: The West Street Cafe is a small, unadorned, unpretentious restaurant in down town Bar Harbor. It's wooden floor, tables and booths are what one would expect in a Maine coast restaurant. The service is friendly and prompt. The seafood is what our party selected: boiled lobster, fried clams, and broiled scallops. All were cooked perfectly. The baked potatoe was cooked pefectly, too. For desert, the blueberry pie is to die for.! The price was right: $13 for the clams and scallops, and $17 for the lobster.
Cute and delicious!: This restaurant holds a special place in my heart for having the most amazing blueberry pie ever. That was the first slice I ever had and nothing has ever topped that. Aside from the pie, which is enough for me to go back many times over, the food and service is fantastic. The set course includes clam chowder, lobster, and pie. The clam chowder was better than average. The lobster was fresh and sweet, nothing beats eating lobster in Maine.
The restaurant is small and located off of the main street. It's inside a house and looks very cute. The decor is minimal, wooden benches and chairs for seating. The servers are polite and attentive and take the extra care to get your slice of pie warm in time for dessert. This is the best restaurant I've been to in Bar Harbor as well as any other New England tourist town.
