My husband and I love Darby's. I love the eclectic menu, the ambiance, the friendly waitstaff, etc. etc. And there are always very drinkable, affordable wine. In fact, although Cleonice in Ellsworth and the main dining room at the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport are both excellent -- they are pricier and more upscale and we would pick Darby's as the best place in Maine -- and one of our all time favorite restaurants. The food is fabulous. And Belfast is a great town!
Have been here a couple of times, and am dismayed upon leaving each time. The atmosphere is good, but the food is overpriced with smaller portions than you would hope for with the price you paid. It is better than some of the other restaurants Belfast has to offer, but it is pricey.
Darby's is another one of my favorites that I miss from my years in Maine. If you can swing by this place for a relaxed dinner - please do so. It is a gem of a place. The people of Belfast are lucky to have Darby's and they know it! It's just so cozy and friendly inside and the menu is unique yet all encompassing. Wonderful food, huge portions, delightful staff. Love it.
