selection of the vegan foods is great, and I love the location of the store. Things in the store are very expensive.
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsMore Than Just A Co-op: I've been shopping at the Brattleboro Food Co-op for ~20 years. I've watched it grow from a hole in the wall to the dynamic, bustling place it is now.
The Coop is more than just a store - it's an institution and a vital part of the community. Through their members, they donated 1,000 hours of time to local schools and non-profits, last year. The organization takes their mission seriously, and give back to the community more than most people know. Beyond that, they feature food grown or produced locally - not just the vegies, but cheeses and meats, pies and breads and wines, etc.
The cafe is a gathering place where one can meet with friends, have some delicious soup or deli foods, strong coffee or tea or simply hang out. The people-watching is excellent. Depending on the day you may hear local musicians, be entertained by jugglers, be offered a tasty treat or be informed of local issues.
In other words, the Coop isn't just about the food. It's about community, responsibility, education, life and health. And along the way, feeling good.
