Mavi is my favorite place to go out for a romantic meal . We just love sitting outside on the porch and looking at the beautifully landscaped scene. There are blue glass tiles on the the porch columns and at night the candles on the tables create interesting visual effects with the tiles and the grapevines overhead. The food is always exquisitely prepared. There are so many wonderful choices on the menu that I have only tried a small fraction of the offerings. The grilled sea bass is The Best in the World! Every time I go to Mavi I find more to love.
When I walked through the doors at Mavi I admit that I was already impressed. I felt just like I was in the restaurants I used to frequent on my many trips through the Mediterranean region. When I sat down and read through the menu I was excited by the variety Mavi offered but I wondered to myself "Can they really serve Turkish, French and Italian of equally high quality?" They certainly can. My friends and I ordered many dishes from the major regions of cuisine offered at Mavi. Each had flair, great flavor and truly authentic flavor! Turkish Meze shone, as did Lobster Ravioli and Duck L'Orange. Try this place!
My husband and I went to MAVI before seeing a show on a Friday night. We went around 5:30 and had no problem getting a table for two.
First, the service here is quite possibly the best service I have ever had at a restaurant. We would take literally two or three drinks out of our water glasses and someone would be refilling them. We would sip our wine and someone would rush over and pour us more from our bottle. We were immediately brought a bread basket that we hadn't even finished before the salads came out, and we had just finished our salads and the pasta was ready. Impeccable service!!
We both chose the prix fixe menu for $25 a person. This included soup or a salad. We both chose the salad. The prix fixe comes with all for of the chef specialty for the night. The salad was large and fresh (and made with anchovies like a caesar is supposed to be). The pastas for the evening were linguini in a clam sauce served with whole clams (at least two with each serving), farfalle with a tomato and meat sauce, and ravioli stuffed with roasted beets and goat cheese. We started with a little of all three and every few minutes someone would appear at the table with a fresh bowl of one of the pastas and ask if we'd like more. My husband had at least eight clams for the duration of dinner, maybe more. We each had several more servings of our favorites. The pasta was freshly homemade and cooked perfectly.
We also immensely enjoyed the wine menu. They have one large menu devoted to $25 bottles. Their wines by the glass start at $7, so it made perfect sense to have a whole bottle for the two of us. The wine we chose was based off the server's recommendation and it was a great light red wine for pasta.
Finally, we ordered the Ricottina for dessert. It was amazing. I cannot speak highly enough of this restaurant. The setting is beautiful, the food amazing and the service impeccable.
