Dr. Hensen and her staff are wonderful! She is a thorough and knowlegable Vet. She and her staff truly love their patients and really take time with them and their owners. She explains everything to you and will answer any questions you have. Infact she really takes time to educate the pet owner. You never walk out of there feeling like you and your pet are just a number in a assembly line clinic, no she is more the country doctor that you feel comfortable trusting your family member's care to.
Some have said she is expensive, but when I have called around she may have been a couple of dollars more at times, but nothing really signifigant and certainly worth it. As far as lateness goes, I really haven't seen it. Once she was late, but that was because of an emergency, and she is a doctor you know!
All in all I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else!
If you want a vet who truly cares about your pet, Dr. Hennsen is it. Her prices may be a little higher than the next vet but she does offer more by way of personal attention to not only the pet but also the pet owner. The wait time is long for scheduled appointments but I think part of the reason may be because she takes so much time with each pet and pet owner that comes in to see her. I've seen less pricey vets and have always come away feeling like I and my pets were nobodies even after our many visits with them. I like to fully understand my pets needs and I like a vet who can explain the ones I don't know about to me. Dr. Hennsen gives as much time as it takes to make sure the pet owner fully understands what she is saying to them. To me, this is the mark of a caring doctor.
Although Dr. Hensen seems knowledgeable, I also was charged a 90.00 "emergency" fee for an appointment made for the next day. I also feel she "pads" the bill by ordering bloodwork almost every time you go in, i.e., senior workup. Also, perhaps what annoys me the most, she is NEVER on time. Count on Dr. Hensen being at least half an hour late. This is very concerning when the dog is stressed to be there in the first place, never mind having the poor dog's heart racing for so long because appointments are scheduled poorly.

I am suprised at the $90 "Emergency Fee" because they have always been fair in their charges with my three dogs and parrot. In fact, just a few weeks ago I took my dog in STAT after she jumped out of a moving car, albeit slow moving. I was only charged the regular exam fee. She did not recamend X-rays, though she could have and made a couple extra bucks. Were you a new customer? As for her running late I just haven't encountered it, except for once when she got held up with an emergency- she is a doctor you know. She may be literally a couple of dollars more than some vets., but she really takes time with each pet and their owner, so you never feel like you are in some assembly line clinic. Maybe you and your pet would be happier there?
I agree with Gabriella She is always charging for every test even if they are not necessary and I've found her to be late most of the time. I have recently gone else where
