I like the way it use to be. Now the seatingis uncomfortable and the service is very slow. the food is great but again the service is very-very slow. i dont know what happened to the place. Why did they get rid of the wall with the candles????
I was there on yesterday, Thursday night. Mind you, I live in eastern CT and because I've always had a fun time there with friends who live in west hartford, I decided to make the trek out west at 4.30 per gallon gas. When the three of us got there, (first time there for my friends) we were duly informed that they were not serving one side of the shop and we had to go to the bar to get drinks. Fine, so we did. The bartender took about 15 minutes to make 2 drinks and a coffee. Fine. We sat and chatted and ordered a couple more drinks. They then turned on the lights and announced last call and so my friend decides to get another one. Bad idea. Not 5 minutes pass and one the waiters, (tall, blond, kinda cute) comes over and starts cleaning up the tables and slamming the wooden chairs on the tables. Not fine. He kept banging stuff around and then comes to approach us and tells us we have 5 minutes and we were getting "bounced". We said ok, then he goes on to keep bang more chairs on the tables. He then tells us again we have 2 minutes to leave, then repeats it to let us know that we have 1 minute. Of course, the other side of the restaurant still had people hanging around and while my friend was eager to complain, I just decided to let it go and leave. Not sure if we looked too plain for the waiter, but certainly no way to treat people, much less patrons I think. We spent about 1.5 hours and $50 + tips on drinks and if their kitchen was open, we would have spent more. Unfortunately, this left a bad taste in my mouth and certainly not going back again, ever. I can't have the image of a relatively upscale place and treat patrons in such a dismissive fashion especially when they are in an area with other bars right next door.
Great atmosphere, great drinks, and food. My friends and I really enjoy going there. By others reviews. All I can say is you just can't please everyone!
