We've been local supporters of this establishment since their efforts to open, during a period when the owners were embroiled in disputes with local officials.

Our experience has been consistently mediocre food and often less than efficient service. In spite of that, we've returned again and again and have urged others to try Ribbits; this because we like to support local businesses and our local economy can only be helped by their success. This effort has been in spite of disappointing food and often cheery but frequently inadequate service.

We are reluctantly giving up on Ribbits. The food is often less than okay, at best just okay, and just once it was actually good (a vodka sauce that stood out from all of the disappointing food we've had there). The prices aren't inexpensive and the quality doesn't live up to expectations for the price.

Jambalaya billed as sausage and shrimp in tangy tomato rice was a plate of bland (but yes, tangy) rice containing the equivalent of one tiny bite of sausage, and a barely adequate amount of shrimp. A LOT of salt made it palatable. A $15.95 - lunch. The disappointing side salad was topped by two pieces of rock hard tomato.

During another visit we tried a baked fish dish. It arrived in an individual casserole swimming in what appeared to be water. Very disappointing in every way and didn't live up to the description on the menu.

"Clams casino" pizza is actually pizza topped with rather dried up fried clam strips.

I wish we could continue to support this business but we've given them too many opportunities to rise above all of our disappointing experiences there, and they have failed.

We had dinner at Ribbits last night. The food is very good, my husband had the whole belly clam dinner, the coleslaw is delicious. I had an egg plant grinder, toasted, very good. We both had dessert and I highly recommend the cheese cake. Our server, Sarah, was very helpful and friendly. We will definately be returning.

Dining In or Carry Out: Well I will start off by saying that I started eating at this restaurant when it first opened. I've tried dining in and ordering carrying out.

My dining in experience was kind of a let down. There were two waitresses and only one other table besides mine that was occupied. The one table had about 4 people and mine had 3.

So my first visit I sit down with my group and we waited half an hour for the waitress to wait on us. Meanwhile one of the people I was with noticed that the two waitresses were arguing over who WASN'T go to wait on our table. I find that hard to believe still because if I was waitressing I would be arguing over what I WOULD wait on. So we got our food rather quickly after since the owner knew about our waiting time and we got a discount too. But it took forever for the waitress to give us our check.

However the good part about this story is I've had no problem ordering the food to go. I order food often from there and I don't have a problem with picking up my order or the quality of the food.

So in all this is a good restaurant in my eyes. My dining in experience was when they first opened so that could have been part of the issue as waiting half an hour in a nearly empty restaurant. So I am sure this part has changed.

On the weekends, I see this restaurant jam packed for breakfast nearly every Saturday and Sunday. I have not tried their breakfast yet, but it is on my list to try someday in the near future.
