I used to love going to Mystic Aquaurium. In fact, I still would like it had they not increased their prices so much. The aquarium is nothing special. In fact, after having visited many different zoos and aquariums, I have to say that the exhibits lack a sense of realism. Not all, but most. Travel a little bit and go see the Boston aquarium. Better yet, the Meritime has much better exhibits and is about half the price of Mystic. Don't get me wrong, I love Mystic, just not very happy about the increased prices and little improvement they do. I'm giving it a 4 star rating not because of the actual aquarium but because they do a lot for sick animals and I can applaud that.
We were members of the Mystic Aquarium for years. We went on whale watch week ends and research trips out on Long Island Sound, surveying seagull nests, dropping microphones listening for whale sounds, gathering plankton, and delighting in dolphins riding our boat wake.
They offer all kinds of educational programs for kids and adults alike.
I love that we live so close to such a treasure.
I went there while on vacation. My kids loved it. I love the fact that you could touch some of the anmials. I got to touch the sting rays that day.
