surprisingly excellent jewel of a restaurant: Keep in mind when reading this, we were told at Copper Beach in Ivoryton not to return because "our standards where too high"...we were thrilled to stumble on Elizabeths...the enviroment was charming, the service excellent, the seats very comfortable for a change, but the best --the food and presentation. While the prices not shy, from the fresh Peach Bellini, many times cloying, it was refresing and delicious--the goat and beet salad, beautifully presented and the pistachio crust on the goat cheese against the greens and yellow and red beets, creamy and delicious.
The striped bass, crispy and perfectly cooked sitting atop creamy lemony risotto which in other restuarants have found boring and dry. The lemon pawsta with fresh seafood, perfectly seasoned with the exception of the shrimp being a bit dry. The mussels and clams, plump and perfectly cooked. A fun and fabulous experience!
Best to bring your own wine for a $10 corkage charge as the wine list is lacking. We already scheduled to be back next weekend!
Hidden Gem!: I was fortunate to visit Elizabeth's Cafe (a.k.a. Perfect Parties) during a family reunion weekend in Madison in July 2005. The food is delicious - I highly recommend the scallops and the steak dishes. I returned later in the summer and dined solo, and the waitstaff made me feel perfectly welcome. At the time, Elizabeth's did not own a liquor license, so remember to bring your own bottle of wine. I highly recommend this restaurant.
